The Event - The Push
Today was our event The Push at old Pint Pot ,Salford we posted this Facebook before 3pm which is when the event started. This post was to show the people invited what they are coming and to get others who were not coming to come. The sneak peak idea was a good one as no other exhibition has done this make us stand out and be different.
The Event
Here is The Push event at The Old Pint Pot.
My Work at the event
The work is more installation instead of series of images as the whole aesthetic worked together to give an overall effect of crime scene the intended outcome. the installation staged as a crime scene with the four images placed on a dust sheet similar to what crime scene investigators use in real life crime scenes. Dust sheets also frame my whole installation so it stand outs from the pub stage. The crime scene markers were placed next the images to mark the evidence found which is images similar to a real crime scene. the there also ruler markers around two images to frame them. I only framed two image with ruler markers as if all the images were framed then it would not look like an authentic crime scene which is what I wanted to create. the crime scene tape was placed across the crime scene at first i wanted the tape to be straight across but actually this works just as well as it still across so no- one can cross it just like a crime but it is more inviting to the audience.
Here is a video i shot during the event on my phone the picture quality isn't amazing but its to show that music we chose which was rain falling to link to the Pusher and the venue which is situated near water. the water sound played out of speakers one of which was next my work hence why i positioned it there because my images is all about the canal and the banking the water sounds really fitted and blended well with that.
Here is the hand prints and sign i created to guide people in to venue, the venue has two doors but one is for staff and deliveries so the sign was guide people to use the public entrance instead. The sign says to follow the hand prints, i chose the hand prints to make and laminate to guide people in the door and up the stairs to keep the whole event cohesive as the marketing the flyers and the poster all have the hand print and the same text so it looks professional and coherent.
I have enjoyed doing this project as it has been a big learning curve to put on a exhibition in 6 weeks at first sounded impossible but I have done it and went well and the work worked well and was cohesive to theme of The Pusher and crime photography. we had our theme first before the venue which i think did help because we could research and get inspiration or images. We were lucky our venue fit perfectly with our theme as it was part of the brief to relate our images to the venue and our venue being a pub next the river were the murders have happened was perfect. Always working in a group it is hard and there was disagreements but the important thing is that we created exhibition that was well thought so we knew it was going to look good. If i was to do this project ever again next time i may decide to chose my group and make sure everyone is on board with every decisions but apart from that i wouldn't change anything.
